I just rearranged my garage and I wanted to get some advice on snow tires for budgeting purposes. I live in MN and run snows on steel rims during the winter (Summer tire on SPG is BF Goodrich Traction T/A). I know my "summer" tires are all seasons and can be used in the winter, but I feel safer with snows.

Here's my question. I do fairly limited driving (7-10K/yr), my old set of snows (Nordfrost II) I bought used 5 years ago. The tires still have decent treadlife on them: 6/32 front and 8/32 rear (I rotate front/back each season). Should I replace my snows this season due to age/wear or is it ok to use another season. Last winter I felt better grip with the Nordfrosts than my new set of Goodyear Ultragrip III's on the 9-5 Wagon. However, that may be due to the difference in vehicles. Anyway, if I should change, with what? I'd like Nokian Hak II but they are expensive ($100 ea) are they that much better than the others (worth the price) Blizzaks, etc. $60-$75.
