That's the difficult way to do that!
(Right way: disconnect fog light connectors, remove grille, disconnect bumper-to-side-trim connector bolts at the air dam, remove two bolts holding bumper on, bumper falls off in your lap, slide under front of car, disconnect two screws at the top of the condenser (holding it to the hood latch cross-piece you described) and remove the two screws holding the condenser to the lower sub-frame rails (the things the bumper attaches to), pull condenser out the bottom, reassemble Stephanie.
Next time you may want to search for "AC removal procedure" for my post, I think it was back in January. Now the evaporator, that I had to hacksaw, but that was fun.
