Greetings!
I finally found a good one. I just purchased a 1990 900S and this is my very first Saab. It's in great condition, the only rust on it is a slight amount around the windshield and the dash is a bit cracked. No sagging headliner! Woohoo!
Now, it idles a bit high (it's a manual). I am not mechanically inclined, so I am taking it into a guy who works on Saabs locally. I mentioned that the car has a pass code in order to start the engine and he stated that it was not a good thing due to something with the wiring. My question for that is, should I have him disable it (if possible) or tell him to leave it alone. I kinda like the passcode for the quirkiness of it, but if it is better for the car to be disabled, I'll have him disable it.
My other questions are, how often should I have this tuned up/looked at and what sort of things can I do to keep the body in shape? I don't have a garage, so I was thinking of just getting a car cover for it. Or maybe putting up one of those tent-like car ports in the driveway. Sure, it might look ugly, but I gotta take care of my Saab!
So any suggestions would be most appreciated!
I have had it for less than 24 hours and I had to drive 2.5 hours each way to get her, but now she is MINE and I feel pretty awesome about it.
