I'm doing a CV/inner drive swap and thought I'd save some time.
So I have some old axles and thought I'd strip them down to the shaft.
That way, I can put all the new stuff on before I take the car apart.
We'll the short side went pretty quick.
I did have to take the clip out of the CV the hard way.
FYI - That's bending one side of the clip up a little so you can cut it off.
Then tap it back down. Rotate the clip so it's back in the groove. Follow it with a little finishing nail so you can grab the other side with a pair of pliers. Then work the clip out. No you can tap the CV off the shaft.
Anyway....
The other axle - well, somebody was too cheap to get another clip to hole the tripod on.
Uh, so they welded it onto the shaft.
One of the bearing is welded in place.
I can mail a picture to someone if they want to post it.
