87 and *earlier* had studs on the hub, and uses nuts to secure the wheels, does not have the locating pin, thereby the wheels only have four holes (besides the large one in the middle!) for mounting.
88 and later (and all 9000 to btw) have *bolts* that screw into the hub (through the wheel), *has* a locating pin, and also has a securing screw 180 degrees away from the pin, thereby the wheels have four holes (plus the one in the middle...)*Plus* one for the alignment/locating pin. The screw opposite that pin isn't necessary but usually there. Also, the hole in the center of the two types is different size, and the spacing on the four bolts or studs are different...
Basically they are different! If your wheels have the single large hole in the middle, and four equally spaced holes for the bolts, *and* one smaller hole between two of the four holes, it's most likely a wheel intended for 88 and *newer*. If the single small hole is missing, most likely intended for 87 and *older*.
