How can I appease the Gods of idle?? (long)

Hi All,
I've been working at getting a 1985 SPG back to good running condition this summer. I bought it with 254K, and lots of records. Nothing majorly wrong, just rough running etc. I've replaced every thing I can think of to tune it up, including new AMM, NTC sensor, O2 sensor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and of course a new hooter valve, inlet hose, and every bloody vacuum line has been replaced with silicone.
I also plugged the charcoal canister, and yet I STILL have the following symptoms. When I start up, I get a little hunting for idle, but as I pull out of the parking lot and stop to get into traffic, the car stalls. It immediately starts up again and i have no problem after that, except for a persistent high idle. Once warmed up it no longer hunts, just idles high.
I don't know what else to try (vacuum canister?), it seems like I've gone over every vacuum line with a fine-toothed comb. I'm convinced the induction is sound, but I also am just getting base boost (which seems to be another issue altogether). At this mileage can anyone recommend things to check that might cause high idle? Dashpot? Injectors? Help, I want to get it perfect!
