I bought a '94 convertible with a low 60k miles 2 weeks ago. I had it serviced by a saab specialist this week and he told me my car is in good shape the only thing that was missing was a heat shield for the battery and he told me not to drive around here in lake tahoe otherwise the battery might melt, a very tiny part of the battery had already melted. So I was looking for a heat shield on the inernet but I also cleaned out my car and guess what I found in the trunk under the floorboards, e.g. a metal rectangular piece with some plastic attached to it which I think might be the missing heat shield from my car. Before I bought the car the owner told me a new battery was put in so I reckon they put the heat shield in the trunk not knowing what to do with it.
does anyone have experience with placing the heat shield? where does the plastic part go ? towards the battery (which seems logical to me) I tried putting the piece between the turbo and the battery and i think it might fit, i couldn't fit it rightaway but with some effort it might fit in there. There is also some long piece of metal attached to it to bolt it to the frame of the car.
