It sounded from your first post as if you only found one of the two J-shaped rods with threads on one end and wing nuts, used to hold the heat shield-battery hold down in place. If so there are similar universal rods sold at auto parts stores.
Very often the threads get badly rusted and it's impossible to turn the wingnuts and that could be why it wasn't reinstalled. If so, and if you do indeed have both of them, heat the area around the nuts till they glow orange, in a propane torch or over a kitchen gas stove burner, then plunge them into oil, or, in a kitchen, into water. The quenching action should crumble the rust. Then run the wingnuts up and down quite a few times to clear the rust away. Lube with oil, grease or vaseline on reassembly.
They go diagonally down to a slot in the bottom pan, then the J end hooks back up thru a hole about 1/2" away.
