Re: oil pickup tube fix with engine in car? Posted by Bryan [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: oil pickup tube fix with engine in car?, SWEDECAR ![]() ![]() |
anders, . the tool is like that one but it is a modified seal puller (we ground the lip off the end of it). we found it buried in a bunch of old unused saab tools at our local saab dealer. it inserts about 3-4 inches into the oil pickup tube and tightens like a champ. there is another nut that fits onto the end threaded portion of the puller also, so i can install a strong metal washer as a grip/stop for a leverage bar.
i installed the pickup with everything out of the car and the timing cover on. I remember doing it and it seemed fairly straight forward. I rembmer when i put the trans and engine togther I was really easy on things, but the tube did contact the tran once or twice (really, it was once or twice!!!) but light. i also torqued everything to spec witha new torque wrench.
i appreciate the thoughts. getting pressure is the hardest part. getting the tool into the tube and tight is the simple part. i may be pulling the motor again....
