Danger..Blown Alternator belt Takes out Crank Sensor.. Posted by JLitten007 [Email] ![]() ![]() |
1991 900SC 2.1
218,000 miles
A day after I have the car serviced for the first time by local Saab indy the front Alternator belt spreads while driving in town.
He says should be OK to drive in town but wouldn't do any out of town trips till belt is replaced.
So next day I replaced all belts. didn't see any old belt parts in crank area...Car ran fine that evening.
Next day on sort trip driving 45 MPH car dies.Dead..No Spark.
4 days of ringing out electrics tells me crank sensor is bad.
( always double check directions given in these posts with Bentley manual as sometimes people don't always post correct info...Like colors of wires to Ring out.will save a lot of time,)
Anyway got the crank pulley off yesterday and Sensor was toast broken off oil pump housing ,Aperture ring bent all to heck,
Peaces of old alternator Belt rapped around inside area of Crank pulley.
So Now I'm doing all recommended replacement while this deep into the process. Crank seal,Oil pump O-ring,Waterpump, New parts arrive on Monday.
Damn.. one lousy 10 dollar part Deemed OK by Indy cost me hundreds....
Any way...Wish me luck.
