Driving through an ancient florida trailer park neighborhood rife with 4x4's, barbed wire, bbq's and confederate flag curtains I spied a red CVT growing weeds in the back yard of a ramshackle shack... I tracked down the owner's wife after inquiring with the neighbors, and after she put away the 8 dogs she has, we discussed the car briefly.
Apparently her husband, an OTR Driver, had bought it for their son but they never got it on the road because of A BAD AUTOMATIC TRANNY! Where have we heard this before ....? I think it's an '88 - 90 - It had the vacuum advance on the distributor, but no headlight wipers, the top's pretty much shot, and when I lifted the hood my hands came away with a nice icing of oil sludge from the lip of the hood.... so maybe it was blowing oil at some point.....
I'm awaiting a call from the owner - She said they paid 1600 for it a few years back, but now that its sat... I don't want to steal it from them but can't see myself offering more than $500 for it... I have an '88 5spd and a '93 AUTO (grrrrr) so see myself picking this one up primarily for parts, unless I find Another one with the HIGHLY desireable 5spd.
