What to do with a "mistake"?

I got a call from an aquantance who was at a police auction today. There happened to be an 86 900 2dr notch on the auction block. In his exact words, "there is damage to the rear, but its not that bad" and "the rest of the car is pretty clean". I told him I would pay up to $300 since it is supposed to run, and sounds "fixable". Wrong, it shows up on the back of a wrecker and there before me is a mangled mess. The rear is pushed in enough to touch the rear tire, and shatter the back glass. The roofline is not buckled, but the right rear quarter moved a quarter of an inch into the pass door gap. It does run pretty good though. What to do with this thing??? I would hate to cut it up and send the remains to the crusher, although on the other hand, I think I would rather have never been told about it. I know how rare these are, and thats pretty much why I decided to save it from Pick N Pull. The guy who told me about it is an idiot, but its my fault for buying sight unseen. Should I bite the bullet and fix it to use as a beater?
