Ignition amp removed and jumpered is per later TSB. It's ok as is.
You can also put +12 to the solenoid on the start directly to see if it will crank. that would eliminate all of the swichology between your fingertip at the key and the starter. I got a great set of aligator ended coiled wires, coil about the size of a corded phone cord. One black and one Red, Sears $20. Not inexpensive, but not cheap either! With a flashlight you can see under the intake plenum, just to the left (forward) of the oil dipstick tube, there be the starter with solenoid piggybacked on it. There are three wires, a fat red one going down and to the left eventually to the battery, from that same post another fat wire going back to the right and to the alternator. The last wire is a plug onto a spade, should be yellow. if you pull that connector off and clip your jumper to it... then manuver to the battery with it, you may need to add length to the wire - remember this is only very temporary - , have a helper turn the key to run position (the one with all of the idiot lights in the dash on and the infernal noises to tell you what you have done), you *touch* the jumper to the positive side of the battery. One of two things should happen: 1) absolutely nothing - the solenoid or starter is dead, or 2) it will crank (and may start) and scare the crap out of you! ha ha ha!
let us know how your are doing.
