What looks like a lot, and is very annoying, can be so little you can't notice the difference on a dipstick, even over long oil change intervals. Five or ten drops a day out of five quarts is not going to be perceivable on the dipstick.
Could be motor oil, tranny oil or power steering rack fluid.
Cleaning all dirt off a motor and tranny often leads to visible leaks where there were none - - the sand and road dust work like a sponge to contain fresh leaks till they stiffen, and they never drip onto the ground - - just serve as glue to bond more dirt to.
