A very easy job, except for the PIA fingers on the pressure plate. The correct spacer is the key to an easy removal and reinstallation. I don't know if my slave cylinder was weak, but I was unable to place a large enough copper ground cable between the fingers and end of the pressure plate. I tried various thicknesses to no avail.

Many hours later, I decided to cut the fingers with a rotary cutting disk. Should have done that in the first place since I was replacing all the key components.

I purchased the bolt to remove the shaft from Home Depot (8mm X 50mm X 1.25 pitch threads) although a 30 mm length would be good and of course a couple of washers. The shaft pulled out easily, but I was unable to remove it completely without removing the radiator.

I don't have a hydraulic press, I used a jack (the one that came with the car worked best), the old throw out bearing (to place on the fingers) and the weight of the car. Fingers compressed nicely and I inserted the previously worthless copper ground cable.

It was a tight fit getting it all back in place. Has to be replaced as a unit (slave, throw out bearing, pressure plate, and clutch). I used a large tie wrap (not my idea, but one I read on this board), but that almost proved the undoing as I had difficulty removing the tie wrap after fitting in place.

I didn't resurface the fly wheel, cleaned with rags and carb cleaner. Also didn't do pilot bearing.

An easy job, but very frustrating (because of the spacer).

The Bentley was a good reference source, but to be honest, no more so than this board or a couple of other ones that frequently get mentioned.

I got the parts locally, there are many many sources.
