Wifes 2.1 N/A had #2 inner exhaust valve with a big chunk out of it, pie shaped 8mm at circumpherance. Been running jerky for 3 day's she said after I drove it to the store over one weekend. There was no seat distortion, lapping was all that was needed. The lifter performed fine and the injector amount is good. I believe ther was a random fracture of the valve, and or poor seating of the exhaust valve (s) in general, that lead to overheating. Altho I swear the valve did not look burnt. All exhausts faces looked marginal. I just replaced all exhaust valves as a precaution, lapped to proof all valves and all seats and faces checked fine. Oddity was no piston damages, as wherever the peice from the ex valve went, it did not richochet inside the cylinder. 500 miles now back together, all OK. Any other case experiences sought, this seemed rare to me, from my Saab experiences. Don
