I went an looked at a 1992 900 and it would not start. The drivers side floor was wet with coolent. I looked in the engine bay an noticed the heater control valve was cracked and held together with clear silicone. The lower of the two nipples was siliconed at the firewall. Is that why drivers floor was wet? Also, the alternator belt was not hooked up. It was just hanging down below like it popped off at some point. Could this possible be why the car would not start? The side marker lights did turn on when I tried them so the battery had some juice left. Could I try starting the car with no alternator belt and just hooking it to the battery with a power pack?
