Not as I understand it (although I have not done it yet). You splice into Pin 19 of the harness to the APC module, which goes to ground when the knock sensor is triggered, so there is no reduction of voltage at the APC. You connect the Pin 19 ground wire to one end of an LED and the other end of the LED to a positive 12 V source to complete the circuit. Here's somebody's good idea from the performance board to make wiring it up to your dash that much easier:

There's a lot of discussion regarding this on the performance board, just search under "Pin 19" and you'll get a lot of hits. Make sure you use the quotes or you'll return several thousand posts - for instance, ever post that has the word ,ping, in it. Seems to me the only real trick is figuring out which pin is #19, and that appears to be covered by Bentley.
