Ok here we go again.
No high boost except when W port blocked. Low boost at about 0.37 bar Lots of noise ie tapping coming from the APC solinoid.
I've been through the Bentley and other diagnostic info.
APC solinoid swaped for one that doesn't leak as much as mine. Pulls in cleanly at jumpered battery voltage OK. I cut off coroded terminals and cleaned earth. Very little voltage drop.
Checked boost pressure sensor. All vac leaks fixed . Cruise control vac switch dead and bridged out. APC control unit checked and swapped for another as well. Brake switch operable. I've disconected the knock sensor to test run (but may need to bridge it maybe) Checked ignition control relay and control unit.
What I've have found that I don't understand is the APC solinoid doesn't hold the voltage from the control unit and constantly taps until it has the required volts to pull open. It's like it ramps up to about from about 6v to 10v before it stays open . It seems its getting a fluctuating voltage which is causing it to tap when I drive and prevent high boost.
I would expect the voltage to be available and switched instantly.
The battery is a bit old and tired but haven't done a load test yet and I'll probably test the alternator at the same time.
Don't know where to go next. Any Ideas? Anything I've missed? All the usual supects come up clean .
Thanks Darryl - Oztralia
