First of all, make SURE that leak is between block and head, and not dripping down from the thermostat housing area. Your problem could be really minor.
But back to head if it's that:
Any marring of that flat surface, and any failure to remove ALL the old gasket or any corrosion or sealer, from both head and block, could make for a leak. And look close at block surface there as well.
Best advice is as Jimbo said, have head checked out at least by a Saab-head-savvy machine shop, and if they say so, resurface it.
All that about getting old gasket traces off, but worst case would be if someone got too aggressive and used some kind of grinder and took away some of the head metal.
I'd say you'll probably end up having to pull it and take a real close look at the leak area, and then take it to a machinist.
Um, you're getting this from one of the few guys who HAS re-used a head gasket. (Not on a Saab, on a hard-to-buy-for Lancia. And it was clean as a whistle as were both head and block.) But even though this one is nearly new, everyone, even me, will advise you that if you take it apart again, you ought to use a new head gasket once things are cleaned up and go back together.
