I've resolved similar problems using a can of "Sea Foam"---a mouse milk you can get at most auto parts places for about $7-8. I break a vacuum line from the manifold and stick it into the can and let it suck in about half the can then shut the engine down and let it sit for overnight (if you can) or at least a half hour. Then refire the engine (lots of smoke...it will go away in a minute or two). Dump the rest of the can in the gas tank.
The process is similar to the "fuel injection cleaning" procedure used at most service shops.
I picked up a bit over 10% improvement in fuel economy and improved the response with one application like this in my 93 900 non-turbo. It is now part of my oil change procedure.
