I'm not very technically inclined. The '90 SPG I have now is my 10th C900 Turbo, since 1984. My opinion is that I've never had one in which the steering was not precise, dead-on, and self-centering with exceptional road feel. One of the best aspects of the C900, I believe, is the feel of the steering. If I was feeling what you've described, I'd think the rack might be slowly failing. On my '90, the rack was leaking severely when I bought the car over 5 years ago. I've used leak reducing sealer treatments in the rack a couple times. Barely leaks at all now. I check it a couple times each summer. But I note that when the car is first moved from a cold start, the steering feels a little like I have to finish returning to center a couple times. After a couple times, everything is once again 100% perfect. I'm going to stick with it until the rack fails more severely.
