Peter...not sure that McPherson compressor would fit inside the wheel arch. You have no upward space above the spring. That tool is meant for McPherson units that have been removed in a compressed position for dismantling on the bench. I have always used the inexpensive 'Sears' type also....they don't have to be spaced at 180 degrees exactly as log as the clamps are secure and fit well. It also helps a LOT to undo the lower shock mount giving a few more inches LESS that you have to compress the spring. As long as you are careful, the Sears type will handle the job fine.
