new tires will *always* feel squishie at first. give them a couple of days and I bet you will say it's good. if your old tires were worn close to the wear bars (wasn't that why you got replacements?) then they will not have had any movement in the tire surface, the pliable rubber portion gone. steering angles will feel different, it will feel like you have to turn more to make that same corner.
I won't enter into the V or H o brand rated argument, that's a *whole* other thing.
Having put the *same* tires on the *same* car about 6 times or more (oh, 900S btw, and also doing it on 9000CDT too), I noticed the sensation you are talking about. It's really called "new tires". It's like new shoes "are you sure these are the same size?".
