fuel smell and oil leak?

I have a commemorative edition with 128K miles. I had the fuel pump and filter replaced. It had only 5 gals in the tank. When low, I filled the tank and when I reached home (5 miles) and parked, there was immediately a fuel smell - very strong, inside the car and definitely from the engine. (Nothing in trunk or rear of car.) There is also now what seems to be an oil leak directly ahead of and inside of the front driver's side wheel that occurs each time the car is parked. Runs fine, starts a little more sluggish than usual (an extra 2 cranks). Very bad smell on the interior when driven with windows or sun roof open. Well, it just reeks. I walked out the front door this morning and could smell the gas from 20 feet - but there does not seem to be gas leaking anywhere. My SAAB genius went out of business and I have to go to a new guy. I'd like to have a good idea what might be wrong before I go, because I don't trust anyone with this car anymore. $$ I guy who installed the fuel pump is a genius, but an MG genius and too far away to go back to. I'm quite mechnical and can test some simple things out. I've at least located the fuel rail, fpr - which I'm suspicious might have gotten blown out by having a strong pump suddenly installed? Thanks.
