turbos are (or maybe it just mine) finicky when it comes to plug wires, spark plugs, and distributor cap, and rotor, and coil.

i had one spark plug wire that wasnt making a good contact and it kept the car from a full pure boost, knock sensor would shut everything down.
the spark plugs are critical for a turbo to stay boosting with no problems, mine became a little foul after normal age, round 6-8 months of regular driving, with the plugs it kept the car from boosting at all.
soon as i would try for a little boost the the wastegate would open sending all my built pressure out the tailpipe.
with the dis. and rotor, they ended up getting a charred (or mine did) with a substance on the points and the tip of the rotor, took me right out of boosting.
and the coil, i needed a coil immediately seeing how i broke a terminal on the bosh (oem) i ran to the store and picked up a generic one just to fit the car while the new one was in order.
with the generic coil soon as i would lean into it to get the boost going the motor would have full electric failure for 1/8th of a sec. then run fine, of course that 1/8th of a sec. triggered the knock sensor.

these are just the main things to look at when you have a funky boost problem, dont get me wrong their are many more item that can go that is relating to the turbo. but i had more problems with these items than any other thing.

and just to note, think of the knock sensor as eyes that constantly look over the motor, while under boost, if it finds anything that starts to go wrong it will shut your boost off,
i have heard many saabers try to over ride the knock sensor, so the car will boost to when ever.
the knock sensor is not there to shut you down, its there to tell you, the car has a problem that needs your attention to be taken care of,
most likely its one of the simple items that were listed above.

most of all have ever lasting fun.
