You have to pull the head or the trans off to get the timing cover off.
The problems I had -
Hard to keep track of which bolt goes where when you put everything back together - there must be 5 different lengths.
If you have compressed air and a 90 degree air wrench - it comes off fast.
There is a stud on the trans that you have to get off (unless you've had the trans changed and the probably put a bolt back in) you back off the nut then jam two nuts together and back the stud off.
Then you'll probably mess up the trans to timing cover gasket - I saw noticed it before I got everything together - so a little RVT did the trick.
My car has 210+k and both chain guides were cracked.
I had a leak in the timing cover (inlet to water pump) that necessitated the fix - lots of work for a $3 gasket!
