I believe the switch you are referring to is the "zero" position throttle contact switch for the shift-up indicator light on the LH 2.2 (I16 Lambda and T16 Lambda) systems. This switch went away with the LH 2.4, as the shift-up indicator feature was built into the ECU.

The function of this switch is to kill the upshift indicator light when your foot is off the gas, regardless of motor load or RPM.

The switch should have a grey and black wire connected to it. The grey wire comes from the shift-up indicator relay in the electrical distribution box. The black wire is a ground. Not sure which terminals they should connect to.

There was a very similar switch for the AC cutout function on the 87-88 8-valve motors.
