A while back, after changing the fluid, gasket, and filter on my 86 900s's transmission I broke one of the bolts to the tranny pan. I attempted to use a bolt extracter to remove the broken bolt's shaft from the transmission, but despite double and triple checking that the drill was straight I managed to damage the hole, and not remove the broken bolt. The car has been sitting for months. It leaks like a sieve so I just drained all of the fluid out. Someone suggested that I just fill the hole with quicksteel and drill and tap a new hole. Has anyone had any luck doing this? The quicksteel package says it can withstand high temperatures, and is sandable. It sounds like it would work as long as I sand it good and level so as to make a good seal for the gasket. Being that the bolt is still in there should I just drill through it and fill the larger hole?

The sanding sounds risky, don't want to get any dust into the transmission and I've never used a tap. Hopefully I'll have better luck than I did with the bolt extracter.

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated
