There was another thread about this general topic not that long ago... My '92 900Tc is doing roughly the same thing - sudden increases in throttle causes the car to choke, and it's a little stumbly just odd-idle. The car is not making power like it should... it's very drivable, but not up to par. It's worse when cold, but still evident once warm. It also seems to be worse when the tank is very low - but I really haven't had opportunity to fully evaluate that observation.
The only things that weren't replaced during the refurbishment are the fuel pump, exhaust system, and the ignition control unit. Everything else on the car that can be replaced has been replaced from head gasket to fuel filter and every sensor, filter, and gasket in between. A couple weekends ago I replaced every vacuum hose in the car with silicone and even replaced the ECU with a last-generation 948 (IIRC) box. The coil, FWIW, is a Bosch "red" coil and brand new.
My current best theory is a dying fuel pump... I'm at 157k and of course it has the less-than-good Walbro back there. I'm thinking that low fuel pressure might be responsible for the generally poor throttle response... Seems reasonable in my head, anyway, and bad fuel pressure causing poor atomization would be more evident when the car is cold. I have no ready way to check fuel pressure on Saabs...
I'm gonna replaced the pump tonight or tomorrow. I'll report back...
