some of you may remember that i was planning on picking up an 89 turbo 4-door that i had just purchased and that had been sitting for about two years. well, i FINALLY was able to get it towed up to me, and now i'm figuring out the no start problem. i think Justin said bad ECU at the very begining, and i think he was right, but i just want to spell out all the symptoms to see if anyone has any other ideas:
- car has been sitting for two years,
- it's possible that the previous owner tried to jump it's totally gone
battery with some crappy cables,
- with new battery, it would crank but wouldn't start,
- did new plugs, rotor, cap, fuel filter,
- after tune up, would start but die right away,
- did the Bentley fuse jumper switch (from slot 27 to slot 30 in the main
fuse box), the fuel pump works.
- all other electrical works fine,
- tried to switch out the old fuel pump relay with a known good one. no
change.
looks like all signs point to bad ECU (or LH control unit, as Bentley calls it). do you all agree? can you think of anything else it could be? do you know of any sites that sell a cheap ECU for an 89 turbo?
everything else about the car seems great.
appreciate the help
