If the coles notes version of vvack0matics post is " you really don't need a hotter coil until you have done significant engine modifications on the fuel and air sides of the equation" then i agree. You could likely get 250 hp out of the engine with the basic ignition system in place.
Also, to back up a step: why do you feel your ignition coil is bad? The only reason i ask is that i've seen all the other ignition components fail (plugs, wires, hall effect, ignition control unit, cap, rotor) but never a coil. In fact i'm sure that million mile saab (in the news a few months back) was probably on its original coil. All of my 5 cars (with a total of nearly 800,000 miles between them) have never had their coils replaced. Not to say it can't happen, its just the absolute last thing i would suspect.
