When I bought mine in 99 for less than $300, it was in as bad a shape as possible. It started and shifted in all 5 gears, and that's about it. I've since rebuilt it inside and out, using parts pulled from scrap 900's ranging between 1980 and 1992. That's one of the blessings of owning a 900 - being able to find parts from a wide range of parts that fit. I would say be prepared to deal with a lot of the minor engine, drive train and suspension repairs. The engine and tranny itself should be in fairly good shape given it's low milage, but all rubber parts, vacuum and radiator hoses, electric wiring/connections, bushings are likely in need of attention. A thorough inspection by a knowledgable mech (or yourself if you're up to the task) will reveal the problem areas. A complete fluid replacement is necessary. Brake system is likely on the edge of failure from internal corrosion and seal failure. Same with master cylinders both clutch and brake. Instead of having to buy all new (costly) parts, I've been able to refurbish the master cylinders and brake system by disassembly, cleaning and polishing of the metal surfaces, replacing parts with good used parts from scrap cars. There's tons of info on here from my and other's experience with repairs and refurbishing, so use the search feature for all that gold. Good luck!
