Hi everyone, I've been off doing this & that - sorry to jump in w/new business all of a sudden.

Remember the walnut brown 84' 900t on Craigs List w/only 45k for $3000 ???
Well, my brother is in San Fran. 'as we speak' having just spent $300 on a (one way) flight out of CT to go buy the car & drive it home....his inspection of the car reveals the following:

- Lots of oily gook all over the eng. & trans indicative of mega mileage.
- Blown RS CV joint w/much old hardened grease inside of the rim.
- Torn RS PS rack tie rod bellows.
- Busted CIS FI lines repl. w/hose from an old VW Rabbit.
- missing cargo shelf.
- Silver facia screws. (?)
- Nice deep orange spedo needle flanked by pale yellow tach & fuel/temp needles.

From his description, I doubt it'd make it half way home! The fellow turned down an offer of $1800, countering w/$2600. Not good enough!

The cats' out of the bag now however.......

A car-fax report (vin# conveniently unavailable prior to the in person inspection) indicates the odo read 146k mi in 1999, then 9,500 mi in 01'..... >:( My math says that equals 191k (probably a lot more, figuring the odo was likely busted for some time prior to being replaced)...which explains the oily gook & blown CV joint. Oh, I wish I was there right now - wearing my Red Wing steel toed linesman boots!

I hope this saves a few of you the time & effort of bothering with this car. If it were $500 I'd say there's potential (decent body) but don't hold your breath, the seller thinks the car is a real gem!

Live & learn - Hey, other than leads on some other c900 turbos in the SF area, does anyone have any suggestions for camping (non 'RV') in middle CA? My little brother has rented a car for the week (sleeping in it tonight) & wants to make the most of his vacation before flying back.
