Hello all;

Hey Ray - 'what, me worry?' ;) emissions regs. in CT aren't horrible, but as pjkbrit often rants...the bar is constantly being raised & it's getting tougher to get passing numbers. Purchasing a CA car w/emissions troubles would be fine as long as it didn't get miserable MPGs (long drive home) & the price was right. I'm nearly finished chasing FI bugs in my 87' 900t & the parts have cost me around $400 so far.

OldSaab - I'm not absolutely sure the seller knew about the mileage discrepancy (he probably did), but I'd like to kick him in the nuts anyway. I think the guy bought the car from a dealer...don't they have to disclose odometer replacement on the title? I wonder if there's some way to flag the ad on Craigs List. My brother has AAA & I'll tell him to get some tourism info (if he hasn't already). I'll pass on the tips you had, there should be plenty to keep him busy...even if he just spends all his time putting "nice car - want to sell it?" notes on all the clean c900s he comes across!

Tushy - I saw that 81' 5dr...it does look nice! Too bad it's not a turbo. Would that car have a 'B' motor in it? I'll bet the fuel distributor plunger is just gummed up & cleaning it is all that's needed. Though if he did it before committing to buying the car & then it started right up, the seller might immediately change his or her mind. If he bought the car & the problem was elsewhere...then you've got a project :( It's a moot point anyway as my brother has no tools with him & even if he had them, he's not really capable of much beyond oil changes & tune ups. Besides, he really wants an Edwardian grey SPG (don't we all?).

Chaz, I agree completely about having a vin# in hand ahead of time...but the seller was out of town & waiting for him to get back would have been risking someone local buying the car. Oh well, the weather has been crappy on the east coast all week, so it was a good time to be in CA...who knows, maybe something else will pop up.

Thanks everybody.
