I think you'll also need a black light to see the dye - if so & the place that supplies the dye has one, Walmart may have one a lot cheaper. If you need one & can't find one - try a party/Halloween supply store.
Regarding the leak - did you use a steel pan gasket, or anaerobic sealant? If the later, you should have used "surface prep activator" which enables anaerobic sealant to fill wider gaps...like the one usually taken up by the pan gasket. If the trans/engine mating surfaces mated well, you'd be fine with the sealant alone - but perhaps they didn't. Have you re-torqued all the bolts?
Wherever the oil is coming from, you've obviously got boost pressure finding it's way into the crankcase...here are the only possibilities:
- bad vacuum check valves
- blown headgasket (could be compromised between the #1 cyl & the timing chain cavity)
- internal turbo blow by from the compressor into the oil return.
My money is on a bad turbo seal - just because it's new doesn't mean it's good. Call whoever you got the snail from & see what they have to say.
Good luck
