i pulled the valve cover to check the scene in there. everything seems normal, there was a bit of oil pooling in the cyl. head. did pull the 5th exhaust bolt to bleed air out.... didnt seem like much oil came out when i cranked it. also i topped off the tranny oil - read somewhere that this might help prime? i dont know really. i am just trying to do the easy things first. next i will drain the oil and remove the filter housing and try to prime that way. then if that doesnt work i will try the pressure relief valve.
i did notice a leak near the firewall - but i think it is coolant. cant tell if its coming from the pump or below. where could it leak below the pump?> i wish i knew about that pressure relief valve before i put the oil pump on.
by the way - this "oil pickup tube" - i am not sure what people are talking about? my pump had the alignment dowels on it and seemed to go on properly.
another thing - the oil pressure sender - is that the wire next to the oil filter? are there any other electrical connections i might have missed? the engine seems to run a bit quieter now, but the light is still on.....
