What a great time we had! To those that went you know what I mean, and to those that didn't you missed a fantastic time! Besides the racing the pagentry, the fun of helping out your pit neighboors (DO OR DIE in the hearse!), people watching, and general comradery was a gas. And the 85 or so cars were from wild to crazy, Squadra Pinto had three pintos, two with stick, one auto, and three different engines! Checkout the offical site http://www.24hoursoflemons.com for all of the results and more information about the OCTOBER 2007 event. You *really* should consider coming to watch, or pit or *maybe* even drive! We finished strong, gaining places with each update, finished under power, and 13th overall. The car, basically stock save for the safety stuff, ran great. we were stuck in 3rd gear about the last 30 minutes of the race (reason TBD) but the clutch held up! We even ran the stock exhaust with CAT and muffler for half the first day. We did cut a hole in pipe then as we thought the CAT may be restricting power half way through Saturday (and that caused the pipe to break and the system to drag on the track on Sunday, resulting in another pit stop to remove it so then we had a "race pipe"). The car, engine and transmission prepped and maintained by Walter Wong Hugo and Berto (all three at the race!), ran strong all the time, the suspension was stock, 91 Aero wheels (with a 1991 900 brake set I put on) with 205/50/16 tires (one cut sidewall caused two addition pit stops), Autopower Industries roll cage, 5 point harness and window net, used Corbeau seat, remove all the windows except the windshield, expanded metal grill, corragated sheet metal to cover the hole in the roof... and our car was ready to rock! It really is pretty straight forward to do with a SAAB!
Thanks to all of our sponsors, saabnet.com, Walter Wong Right Solutions, ANDERS/SWEDECAR, eEuroparts.com, AUTOPOWER Industries, carsteering.com, ACME Safety and Supply, AEROSinc.com, and the support of friends and family. This made our first time out a huge success! We finished! woo hoo! AND we finished well! Out on the track all the time! For those who are going next time we have a Nordic surprise already planned!
Stay tuned to all of the 24hoursoflemons.com stuff, I'm sure videos and stills will be available on youtube.com and the other venues just like last time.
Again, we invite you to attend the next event, all saabs are welcome to the SAABS GONE WILD nodic tribe!
If you are interested in joining the team (pit person, general hangers on, drivers, mechanics, sponsorship), sponsorship, or have questions send me an email. We *will* have more than one car for the October race, our welder didn't finish the other cars this time but all will be done in plenty of time for October.
