Better, but not in this case Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Mon, 16 Jul 2007 05:11:41 In Reply to: What are Platinum cured Silicon Vacuum hoses?, Wil W [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 15 Jul 2007 20:59:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Platinum-curing is a method for completing the setting process (curing) of the silicone material. The advantage is that the hose contains fewer impurities. That's the good news.
What's it for? Super-high critical medical and pharmaceutical uses. Places where a few micrograms of ethelyene can ruin and experiment or a life.
In a car, carrying gasoline- and oil-fume laden air, it's not so important. OK, not important at all.
Silicone hose is used in some very high-stress and critical conditions, where it has to be absolutely pure, be able to be autoclaved for sterility, etc. So there is a lot of hose out there, and not all of it has properties you need in a car. Don't spend money on qualities you don't need.
