oil light on-think I'm in trouble

ok-car is a 93 C900 16V N/A with 93K. I bought it with a bad head gasket which I replaced along with a few other things. Car was supposedly not overheated and looks to be pretty well cared for. Anyway after the head gasket was done it ran fine for a few hundred miles but now the oil light just came on. I can hear more mechanical noise from the engine and the light appears to be working ok. I replaced the oil and filter again hoping maybe it was just the filter but no joy. So I did some research and it seems the possibilities in order are oil relief valve, oil pump screen, oil pick up tube oring, and oil pump.
I took the vavle cover off just to take a look and everthing seems ok. BUT, I found some sharp metal pieces in the well between cyl 1&2 where the head bolt is. They're about 1/16" and I don't see where it came from. Didn't find any anywhere else. From what I've read a tiny bit of debris can cause the relief valve to clog so I'm probably going to start there. Is there anyplace anyone point me to or provide step by step instructions on doing all the above? I can't find any and Bentley doesn't really cover it. I ran the car for with the valve cover off to see if there was oil being pumped through. I not sure exactly where suppose to be spraying from but other than the flinging from the cam lobes and chain I didn't see any. Any other advise would be appreciated. TIA
Dave
