Hello all.
My '85T is doing the following:
-Occasionally the lighter plug, windows, wipers, APC and who knows what else will go out. Sometimes it will switch on and off every few seconds, sometimes it will stay off for the whole trip (I only drive 2 miles to work, or I wouldn't still be driving this thing as it is running now). I know these '85s had wiring issues, but has anyone got an informed idea of where to start looking?
-When it is not experiencing the above, it will drive fine until the tach shows just above 4k, at which point it sputters and loses power dramatically.
-It tends to overheat. It will get up to the top of the gauge within a few minutes of spirited driving. I have checked the flow through the radiator, fixed a fan wiring problem, etc.
-At normal temp it has a hesitation or stumble off of idle that turns into a rather spectacular backfire when it gets hot that leaves a brown cloud of smoke several times larger than the car is.

I am worried that besides having some obvious wiring problems I have a head/head gasket problem (compression 120/90/90/90). I can deal with this, but would like to fix the wiring/electrical issues before putting another engine in. Any suggestions/ideas/similar learning experiences? Thanks.
