i want to see some melted metal Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: i understand the air isn't at 900, the words i used, oldsaab, Wed, 22 Aug 2007 13:26:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
i was always under the impression that the smaller stock intercooler could only cool the air so much in the mids of boost, and as the air psi raised in the ducts so did the temp, with the small intercooler it was only a matter of time before the temps would raise beyond the stock intercoolers capability to handle (when psi reached around 20) from this point on the intercooler would just send the rising temps into the chambers,
( the stock inter cooler its just delaying a loosing battle of heat doesnt matter where the psi is at when it dose, 18,24 )
while going with a larger inter cooler the loosing battle would last a good bit longer than having the stock which would allow the turbo to increase up to 30 psi and so on depending on how much bigger the intercooler was,
but still after the turbo would reach the 30 psi it would bring so much heat with it would be the same as running the small intercooler at 18 psi.) but never the less the larger intercooler would only loose in the battle to cool the air beyond the turbo pushing up to and beyond 30 psi.
higher charged air you say, hmm
i`ll have to ponder on that
