my $250 saab turbo Posted by DC saaber [Email] (#1002) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DC saaber) on Wed, 5 Sep 2007 05:41:14 In Reply to: $ 350 saab turbo, Austin Underwood, Tue, 4 Sep 2007 21:28:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This could be a great find, but I am in agreement w/ari. While saabs can be reliable, buying one with a questionable service history can be a disaster. Just recently I bought a 250 dollar turbo vert, the previous owner told me that all it needed was a clutch(what his mechanic told him) Ended up only needing a clutch line and a good bleed. Right now you're probably thinking oh, that sounds great. Well, once the clutch was dealt with I actually got to drive the car. Now I have many more problems to occupy my time- brake booster bad, transmission grinding into 3rd gear, and base boost. The way I figure it, I will be in this car for 1000 in parts in no time. And that does not include maintenence items such as brakes, dizzy, wires, plugs and filters. This is with a used trans, so no guarantees about reliability even then. If you are looking for a cheap and reliable car for you're gf you should look towards a honda civic, or toyota corolla. I bought mine for 150 dollars 30K and three years ago and have probably put less then $1k in it. Just my opinion.
P.S. ari's also right about the girlfriend walking ;)
