We had torrential rains yesterday and I was on the road all day, frequently driving through 3-4" of water. Car did fine until later in day when rain let up a bit and car started stumbling then died. Rolled into parking lot and it started up fine, then died in a minute or two. Got WD40 out of trunk and sprayed all the ignition parts and it ran fine for a few minutes then stumbled and died. Was low on gas but not out but I didn't want to risk killing the pump so I walked to gas station and got a couple gallons of gas. Put them in and car ran fine. Drove a few circuits of the lot to be sure, then pulled onto main road and it died again same way as before.

Remembered I had a spare cap and rotor, so I replaced them. No change. That exhausted my resources so I called AAA and had the car towed. next morning sunny and it starts and runs fine.

Any guesses what the problem could be? Seems to be water/moisture related, but not as simple as usual plugwires/cap etc. I been spraying water around under the hood trying to get it to stumble but it won't. I wonder though if I am obssessing on water - the fact that it starts everytime, but stumbles and won't rev suggests fuel problems. But odd they would turn up in rain the dissappear with that rain.

BTW there is another possibility, that the car just really LOVES to ride on the back of a AAA truck! I counted it up, and realize it has done so 6 times, more than double what any other car I have ever owned managed. Time before last the tow actually took us on a ferry across lake Champlain - I wonder if the car was dissappointed yesterday that it didn't get a boat ride?
