Car is a '93. Distributor cap was replaced with a new, dry one without effect, though there was no noticable water in the inside of the distributor.
While wet ignition seemed like the obvious culprit, the odd thing is that the car would start every time I tried, the run of 30 seconds to ten minutes before starting to stumble and either die or keep up a stumbling idle but refuse to rev, but always start. I usually find when wet ignition kills a motor it often doesn't want to start again, at least right away.
It has been running fine today though I am afraid to drive it very far from home. I took a hose and completey soaked, in turn, the sparkplug wires, the distributor, and then then the coil. I mean DRENCHED. Car didn't miss a beat.
All very odd.
