dunno how many miles, but if age means anything a LOT of distributor sockets/plugs are going south about now. The plug on my 87 just about crumbled in my hand...the socket was dead about five years ago.
I was running down the road a few months ago and mine just died...pulled over and wiggled the plug and it started up and idled fine. Wiggled it while it was running and the engine died. Bad contacts. So I replaced the plug and three contacts.
You can get the plug, a threesome of leads with contacts, and the socket at the dealer, but the boot for the plug is no longer available. Once I had replaced the old leads and the old plug, I just put the remains of my old boot around the plug and gooped it up with black rtv silicone. Let it cure and build up what you think you need, then put it on the distributor and put a light coat over the boot to seal it to the distributor. It comes off easily if you have to remove the distributor.
