Wow thanks guys. My dad is a dealer and works on cars for a living and he said that's what he thinks it is - he is very knowledgeable, even about Saabs. I bought it with 90,000 miles on it and it appeared that it had been taken care of and had several things done to it before I bought it. It did sit for 3 months or so before I bought it. It clacked a lot less before my last oil change. I may try a thinker oil first. It doesn't smoke and has not lost any power. I let it warm up several minutes before I go anywhere, but it is kind of embarising when it sounds like a diesel. It is almost flawless in every other area.
When warm at idle the loud clacking stops but a faint clack. This was like this before I bought it. I just think its wierd that my old 88 turbo still sounded perfect before the head gasket blew - with 250,000 on it.
I will try to get an update when I open the valve cover soon.
Thank you everybody for your coments!
