1990 900SPG 217,000 miles.
I can't come up with a cause on this one.
New battery installed - old one would not hold a charge.
I've checked my alternator ground strap as a possible culprit - seems fine, but I'm going to replace it just in case.

Prior to the battery being replaced, she ran perfectly. No issues at all.
Installed the new battery, started her up, backed out of the garage to go for a ride - massive hesitation.
Opened the hood while in the driveway - checked vacuum lines, tps sensor connector, amm connector, rev'd it from under the hood.
Started smelling like it was running rich. I had to feather the throttle to get it to spin up to 3,000 or so (doing this from under the hood). Took a long time to return to idle. Idle would drop to 1200, hold for a while, and go down to the usual 850, but then bounce down to near-stall and back to 900.

I checked the dash to note the tach - and oops - the oil light is on...but really dim.
I stepped in teh car, feathered the throttle some to spin it up, and the oil pressure light came on and held. Went back to dim when the revs returned to idle.
I shut down, checked my oil - all is good. I felt around on the block and head - nothing felt oddly hot. No strange sounds. I'm pretty confident the engine is getting oil.
Started back up, no oil light.
Spun up the engine to over 2,000 (still running very poorly). Nothing. About 20 seconds later - oil light comes on again. Dim at idle. Bright with some revs on.

Hmmm.
I think she might be telling me it's time to cover her up and get the winter cars out.
Very strange.
Any thought will be greatly appreciated.
