Yes, the Blizzaks wear out quicker, but their coup-de-grace is the compound in the tread that loses its grip after it wears down. The H2s are built more robustly because (living in northern NY I know this) potholes accompany winter weather. Typically, Blizzaks are mushier and their sipes don't interlock as well as the Hakkas so the Bs will be mushier in wet or dry weather. The tread pattern on that particular Blizzak does not self-clean very well, and that's the most important property in slush.
I've got, let's see here, (crunch crunch) 40k on my Hakka 2s and they're down to where I may replace them in the middle of the winter this year. They've got 5 mm left which is where Nokian draws the line on snowy performance. I will wear them out next summer. Last winter they started to break loose a little quicker than before, but I could still comfortably cruise around 45 down the Thruway with no headlights.
