that it's almost comfortable sliding around on a big piece of cardboard.
Looking closer, I think that the compression clamp where the rubber part of the return hose meets the steel is loose. That may be why it leaks a lot when the reservoir is high, but drips only a bit when the reservoir is low.
Now, it's a matter of waiting for the Dremel battery to get a full charge so I can slice through the compression collar and put a couple of hose clamps on it. It was easy to move the downpipe clamp out of the way to get clearance for the Dremel because the two bolts that hold it to the transmission case are off in the wilderness somewhere.
Being down there on my back and looking up, I see all sorts of things which are inching their way to the continuum precipice - wobbly main pulley, for one.
